When Sparrow had made her way back to Cormy’s digsite, Sophia had thrown herself at her, clinging to Sparrow’s leg with arms and legs and tail and squeaking about how frightened they had been for her. Yuxee exited from her tent with her typical crossed arms and uptilted nose, and proclaimed haughtily that she had not been frightened, only displeased at the interruption of her father's work. With a smile, Sparrow pulled both tokagi both into a hug, and then, detaching Sophia, showed them the new dents in her armor and spun up tales on how she had gotten them. That seemed to soften Yuxee up a bit, enough that Sparrow could stand and introduce her to Sir Solcadens.
But when she turned around, she instead found Solcadens and Cornelius standing at an impasse, eyeing each other with not quite dislike and not quite wariness. When the tokagi noticed her stare, he turned away from the Carrock Knight, coming over to slap Sparrow on the back.
"The triumphant returns! I must admit I was a bit worried when you ran past the rukh-shami like that, but your feint kept them from discovering my digsite. Are you sure you're alright?"
“I, uh, yes, I am,” said Sparrow, disconcerted at the praise, for she hadn’t exactly been feinting when she had run from the rukh-shami. Still, she managed a smile and gestured at Solcadens. "Yes, I’m okay, and the rukh-shami raiders are all dead. Sir Solcadens here helped with that. It, erm, wasn't just me."
"Did he?" Cormy ran the knight over with unreadable eyes. The knight returned the tokagi’s look with an expression much the same.
